Getting to Łódź
We recommend that you plan to arrive in Łódź couple of days before the semester starts in order to take care about all issues not directly linked to your studies.
There are several ways to travel to Łódź
BY PLANE
The easiest and quickest way of reaching Łódź is by air. You can fly directly to Łódź Airport . The website shows the departures and arrival schedule.
If you arrive at any other airport than Łódź, you will need to go by bus or train from the airport to Łódź. The best way is to fly to Warsaw (capital of Poland), to Frederic Chopin Airport , which is circa two hours away from Łódź.
BY BUS
There are coaches from different cities in Europe to Poland. You can find more information at
Eurolines
PKS (in Polish)
Cheap Tickets

BY TRAIN
PKP (in Polish) (connections within Poland)
Intercity (connections across Europe and within Poland)
Living in Łódź
Banks
There are many banks and cash machines in Łódź. You will be able to open an account or you can withdraw money directly from the account in your home country. To open an account in Poland you will be asked to provide your passport and temporary address. You are able to pay by card in most of the shops, pubs, restaurants and clubs.
Currency
Polish currency is Polish zloty (PLN, zł). There are many currency exchange offices in Łódź (called ‘kantor') where you can exchange your money. It is not recommended to exchange your cash at the airports, banks, train stations or bus stations due to high commission and bad rates.
Accommodation
WSP does not have its own campus but is keen to help you find accommodation during your stay in Łódź.
Why Łódź???
Our university will provide you student card which will entitle you to discounts in some pubs, restaurants and venues. This card will give you discount as well on public transport across whole Poland. Łódź, together with its Piotrkowska Street - the longest shopping street and promenade in Europe, is famous from being the best place for pub crawling in Poland. At Piotrkowska Street there are over 100 pubs, clubs and discos. You will definitely find something of interest.
Łódź is the city of festivals, hosting on regular basis a few dozen cultural events every year. It is famous in the world because of its associations with the names famous in film industry like Kieślowski, Zanussi, Wajda and Polański. But it is not all! The unique character of Łódź, so easy to notice today, is due to the variety of cultures nurtured by national minorities. A significant portion of the population formed by Jew, Germans, Russians and other nationalities participated in the creation of the 19th century industrial centre. On top of that you can visit post-industrial places, where in one of them called Manufaktura http://www.manufaktura.com/EN/index.asp you will find many restaurants, over 300 shops, discos, a bowling alley, climbing wall, multi-cinema, the Museum of Science and Technology for kids and the Museum of the Place.
